If you're a fan of diesel power and insane torque curves, the compound turbo setup on a 1.9 TDI is where things get serious. Combining a small, fast-spooling turbo with a massive top-end unit, you get the best of both worlds: near-instant boost AND wild top-end power. 😈

🔧 Why Compound Turbo on a 1.9 TDI? The 1.9 ALH, ASZ, or ARL TDI engines are known for their durability and tunability. With forged internals and great fuel efficiency, they’re a perfect base for going compound.
✅ Benefits:
Crazy low-end torque for daily drivability
Big power up top without sacrificing spool
Lower EGTs thanks to better airflow
That insane whoosh + spool sound 😍
🛠️ Common Setup:
HP Turbo: GTB1749 or similar for fast spool
LP Turbo: HX35, S200SX or GT3076 for top-end
Custom manifold + piping
External wastegate + smart tuning (crucial!)
Upgraded fuel system + clutch

💬 Realistically, you're looking at anywhere from 250-400+ HP depending on your fueling and how spicy your setup is. But more importantly—the torque is wild.
On this car we use GT3582R for a big turbo and T25 for a small turbo.

🔥 This isn’t just for dyno numbers either. Compound turbo TDIs pull like a train in the real world and are surprisingly streetable if done right. Our setup has made 342hp with 620Nm of torque @ just 2.7bar boost.
